Every month, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People choose a Hearing Dog and owner to tell their story, and they have built up a nice little archive.
One of them, Matt, has had a book written about him by his owner Michael – If it wasn’t for That Dog! which is available to buy at Amazon. Check it out, it’s had fantastic reviews. It’s an ideal read for anyone considering getting a Hearing Dog or simply wondering why these dogs are such an asset to deaf people.

thank you for pointing out this book – I had a look on Amazon and placed an order!! You should get commission!
I finished reading my copy a few days back, was really good!
Lighthearted, but also put over the whole new partnership with a dog “thing” really well.
Shows that with hearing loss we do have other things going on in our lives which lead to extra challenges “because” of our hearing loss.
And how having the special relationship that builds with a Hearing Dog can help us get through normal day to day “life” which previously one would have found impossible to face………..
I got that book the other day but not got round to reading it yet.
I’ve already got it. It’s really useful. I just wish he had spoken some more about the wait. he jumps a bit too quickly from applying to getting the dog.
